The first thing you will learn in String Master is how easy it is to play in all 12 keys. Here is why! There are 12 notes that have different pithches. They are as follows:

A, A#, B, C, C#, D, D#, E, F F#, G, and G#,

Note how some notes have sharps (#) by them. If you take away the sharps you have the following notes below. These notes are clled natural notes.

A, B, C, D, E, F and G.

What String Master does is to use a system called solfege in replace of the note names to teach the lessons with. The reason is this. If you play all 12 keys you have to memorize what notes are sharp (#) and what notes are not. This added to memorizing where those notes are on the instrument you are playing makes the learning process much more complex. Solfege is a system of syllables that are used for each key. With Solfege you only have to know 7 syllables and no sharp notes or (b) notes. Thus all the notes in every key can now be approached with 7 syllables. The syllables are the ones below.

Do, Re, Me Fa, So, La, Ti

Later the note names are introduced for each key. With this approach all 12 keys can be taught on the fundamental string in less than one week. In 4 weeks the student can be playing all 12 keys with confidence on the fundamental string. There are also songs to apply step one with. With a foundation set for Step 1 you are ready to apply Step 2, which is to introduce the two visual patterns that create the visual image of an instrument in your mind.
